You, or more accurately, your body is constantly adjusting itself when you stretch, move and rest. Some people may even be able to make their joints “pop” when performing these actions. This type of adjustment is different from what a Chiropractor provides. A Chiropractic adjustment is a specific force applied to the spine that is utilized by the body to reduce or correct a vertebral subluxation.
Only vertebral subluxations should be adjusted by a Chiropractor. If the spinal bone is not putting pressure on nerves and disrupting how they function, then it should not be adjusted. Trying to force movement into a joint that does not need it or cannot adapt to it may cause excessive stress to the muscles and ligaments.
Chiropractic adjustments are precise and require years to master. Even Chiropractors can’t adjust themselves and need to receive adjustments from another Chiropractor. The more specific the adjustment, the better it can assist your body in generating health.
