Vertebral subluxations can negatively effect your health. Chiropractic adjustments correct subluxations and help restore nerve system integrity. By removing nerve irritation, healing improves.
The key to an adjustment is specificity. Applying the right amount of force at the right location, in the right direction, at the right time, is critical to a proper adjustment. Chiropractic is truly an art that requires mastery in adjusting the spine.
Adjustments can benefit all demographics. Newborns, infants, children, seniors and even failed spine surgery patients can benefit. Chiropractors tailor care to the patient's size, age and unique health problem.
Chiropractic adjustments are specific with the intent of reducing nerve system irritation. They are more precise than manipulations or mobilizations. This precision exemplifies the purpose of reducing nerve system irritation.
What do adjustments feel like?
After the brief thrust, many patients report a sense of well-being or calmness. Others feel improved mobility. Inflammation or muscle spasms may delay these positive effects.
Are adjustments safe?
Yes. A New Zealand government study concluded that chiropractic adjustments are “remarkably safe.” Taking an over-the-counter pain reliever is about 100 times riskier.
Will adjustments make my spine too loose?
No. Only “locked up” spinal joints are adjusted. This allows weakened muscles and ligaments to stabilize and heal.
What makes that sound?
Lubricating fluids separate the bones of each spinal joint. Some adjustments can produce a sound when the gas and fluids in the joint shift. It’s like opening a pop can or removing a suction cup. The sound isn’t a guide to the quality or value of the adjustment.
Like an experienced piano tuner, a chiropractor has become a master at fine-tuning the working spine. Adjustments help reduce nerve system disruption. This “reconnects” the vital communication link between your brain and body.
