Chiropractic doesn’t cure anything. It is not a treatment for disease. With that said, you might ask: “When I have a headache, I get adjusted by my Chiropractor, and my headache goes away. How isn’t an adjustment a cure for that?”
Adjustments do not cure. Drugs do not cure. Surgeries do not cure. A doctor of (fill in whatever credentials you want) does not cure. The only thing that cures is the body.
Fred Barge, DC, PHC, sums up this principle of cure very well: "There is but one cause in disease; the body's inability to comprehend itself and/or it's environment. There is but one cure in disease; the body's ability to heal itself. And there is only one thing that any doctor can do for a patient. And that is to remove an obstruction to healing thus facilitating it."
The human body is a self-healing organism. The only thing any doctor can do is remove an obstruction that prevents the body from expressing this inborn healing capability.
Healing is expressed primarily through the Nerve System. This is why Chiropractic care focuses on the Nerve System. With that said, you might ask: “But I thought Chiropractic focuses on the spine?” This is true. Vital aspects of the Central Nerve System, the brainstem and spinal cord, are located within the spine.
Vertebral subluxations are spinal obstructions that interfere with the Nerve System’s ability to communicate with the body. A vertebral subluxation disrupts nerve function. This disrupts the body’s ability to comprehend itself and/or its environment. Disease can materialize.
By adjusting a vertebral subluxation, an obstruction to the Nerve System is reduced. This improves the Nerve System’s ability to communicate with the body. The body’s ability to comprehend itself and/or its environment improves. Cure can optimize.
Improving nerve supply through Chiropractic care is a natural way to optimize your self-healing capabilities.
